Hello Sweet Cheeks!
An Exhibition of Tapestry Weaving Techniques by Sadie Paige
Hello Sweet Cheeks! is an informative exhibition that showcases the 12 small-scale samplers that were designed and woven as part of Sadie’s Certificate of Achievement in Tapestry Weaving portfolio. Alongside each sampler, the design inspiration and yarn selection process is presented.

There will be a limited number of small-scale tapestries, influenced by the natural features of the North West Highlands, for sale.
About the Exhibitor
Following a thirty-year career in Information Technology, Sadie was introduced to tapestry weaving in 2013 by Caron Penney at West Dean College. She subsequently travelled the length and breadth of the UK attending workshops delivered by other high profile tapestry artists including Joan Baxter, Fiona Hutchison and Philip Sanderson.
In 2016 Sadie joined the Oxford branch of the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. She enrolled in the Certificate of Achievement (CoA) programme administered by the Guild, specialising in Tapestry Weaving. The syllabus requires the weaving of 12 small samples, which are presented in Hello Sweet Cheeks! and a tapestry weaving project, which is not included in the exhibition currently on display.
Sadie has tended to weave small scale tapestry pieces that don’t require specialist equipment. She naturally gravitates towards minimalist, controlled and abstract designs, often inspired by the Bauhaus artists. Currently, however, she is working on a large-scale pictorial comprised of five panels.

Since moving to Gairloch in 2019, Sadie joined the Highland Guild and has collaborated with Gairloch Museum on several tapestry-based projects including Open Weave, a nation-wide initiative to increase interest in tapestry weaving. She has delivered workshops and introduced children in four local schools to weaving.
Sadie was awarded a distinction for her CoA work, and in addition to the 12 samples and their sources of inspiration, Hello Sweet Cheeks! presents the more detailed documentation required by the syllabus and the assessors’ report.
