Artist: Fiona Mackenzie

Exhibiting: July & August 2022

A collection of paintings; drawings and engravings by Scottish Artist, Fiona Mackenzie.

"I hope that the works will speak for themselves. I am chasing the essence  of the wild, Highland landscape in which I live and work. I don’t need to go far to find a fascinating  rock face, forest, mountain, beach, nor to see all the creatures who live there.

There is an Otherworld too, with the deer, the birds and the sealife all echoing humanity in ancient tales."

Fiona Mackenzie was born in Inverness and spent her childhood in the Highlands, often on holiday in Gairloch.

Based in Wester Ross for fourteen years, the majority of Fiona's artwork is inspired by the raw wilderness of her surroundings. Daily walks, sea swimming and sitting outdoors sketching in paint or pencil, highlight the dramatic, constantly changing backdrop, across sea, sky and mountains. Light is an important element for the artist.

Fiona has a Master's degree in History of Art, and published research on Eric Gill's engravings with the Wolseley Gallery, London. Her early career focussed primarily on private commissions in a variety of styles and mediums. Later exhibiting widely in galleries across Scotland and in London.
