Timed Visiting Slots
To ensure physical distancing, we are limiting the numbers of people in the building through the introduction of timed slots. In line with Tier 1 Guidelines, slots will be allocated to groups of 8 people from 3 households (under 12s do not count towards the total number of people, but do count towards the number of households).
We encourage you to book in advance. You will need to choose a 15 minute time slot between 10am and 4pm for your arrival.
To book please phone 01445 712287 or to advance book, email . If you wish to visit today, please telephone as we are not always able to quickly respond to email enquiries.
We will do our best to accommodate walk-in visitors. Please ask at reception for a free slot. If we are busy, you may have to wait outside or come back later.
One Way System
A one-way system around our displays has been clearly marked both on the ground and on the museum map you will receive on arrival. It is fully accessible and not complicated. Museum stewards are on hand to help you find your way and to answer any questions.
Hand sanitiser dispensers have been installed throughout the building and staff will be regularly cleaning and disinfecting door handles, bannisters, lift buttons, surfaces and toilets.
Please sanitise your hands on the way in and report to reception, where you will be welcomed. We have installed a large, perspex screen at reception to protect our volunteers and visitors.
You are welcome to browse our shop before or after your visit or to pop in even if you are not visiting the Museum collection. Hand sanitiser is available and we ask that you sanitise your hands before handling products and after, taking care not to mark books and textiles with gel. Payment by card is encouraged but we do also accept cash.
In line with Government advice on wearing masks in shops; all staff, volunteers and visitors should wear a mask within the Museum unless they have medical reasons which exempt them.
Check our Visit page for information about our tickets prices and travel options.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01445 712287 if you have any questions or require reassurance about your visit.
Ensuring everyone’s safety
Our priority is the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff. We have introduced some procedures to make sure that visiting the museum is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
