Ceilidh House Gathering
Monday 1st December
7pm - 9pm

Our Ceilidh House gatherings meet once a fortnight and are a welcoming group who enjoy making music, singing or the spoken word.

 

Come and sit in front of the virtual fireside, sing a song, tell a tale, read a poem, play a tune, bring your knitting or just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you!

Doors open at 6.30pm. £2 donation per person appreciated.

Christmas Tree Decorations
Saturday 6th December
2pm - 4pm

Enjoy a cosy, festive afternoon decorating clay ornaments with bright colours and lots of sparkle. Finished decorations can be taken home or added to the Museum  tree.

This drop-in session is open to all ages and is free to attend, donations welcomed.

Book Group
Wednesday 10th December
3.30pm & 7.30pm

Our Museum Book Group read this month is One Came Back by Rose McDonagh. 

 

You can join our friendly group for tea, coffee, cake and lively discussion in person at the Museum or online at 7.30pm via Zoom.

Light & Dark: Writing Workshop Thursday 11th December
2.30pm - 4.30pm

As we approach the Winter Solstice, join us at Gairloch Museum for this Creative Writing Workshop. Annie Worsley will talk to us about her writing journey and lead us through some simple writing exercises to help craft a piece of writing on the theme of Light & Dark. Where ever you are on your writing journey – just beginning, writing regularly or if you have never tried this sort of thing before – you’re welcome to join us for what will no doubt be an inspirational couple of hours. Gaelic Lunch ~ Lòn Gaidhlig
Friday 12th December
1pm - 2pm

Our Gaelic lunches are a chance to speak, practice and learn Gaelic in a relaxed and friendly social setting. Whether you are a fluent speaker, learner or beginner, all those wishing to use and improve their Gaelic language skills are welcome to attend our lunch gatherings. We are very grateful to Bòrd na Gaidhlig for their support for this event. The lunch is free to attend, but booking is essential. To book please contact the Museum or book via Ticket Source.

Creative Writing Group
Tuesday 16th December
2.30pm - 3.30pm

Our Creative Writing Group is a friendly, relaxed session to help you get writing. We will maybe do some writing exercises and share our endeavours. The sharing of writing can be either what we have produced during the writing exercise or could be something that we have worked on at home. For this session, we would like you to bring a small belonging (eg a knick knack, piece of jewellery, book etc) with you.  This group meets in the Snug Room at The GALE Centre.

Carols by the Lighthouse Lens
Wednesday 17th December
1.30pm

Join us by the Lighthouse Lens as we celebrate the season and bring a close to the Museum events and activities for 2025. Everyone welcome.​ Those wishing a "warm up" and run through the songs are welcome to come along at 12.30pm for a very informal rehearsal session.

Whatever the Weather
Every Wednesday
10.30pm - 3pm

I​n the morning, our session uses Museum objects and other inspiration to aid discussion.  In the afternoon, we play bingo and other group games. All our activities are accessible and dementia friendly. If you need help with transport please get in touch. 

 

With thanks to The Hugh Fraser Foundation, GAMS and the Highland Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for their support, as well as the individual donors who help to keep these sessions going. Our last sessin for 2025 will be  Wednesday 17th December. We will re-start on Wednesday 7th January 2026.

Cearcall Còmhraidh
Every Friday 
2pm - 3pm

Join us for these engaging Gaelic language conversation sessions aimed at both fluent speakers and learners of all ages.  Using material from the Museum Collection, Bria Mason leads the conversation, helping to develop your Gaelic language skills.  

School pupils are especially welcome to join. We gratefully acknowledge the support of Bòrd na Gàidhlig in making these sessions possible. ur last session for 2025 will be on Wednesday 12th December. We will re-start on Friday 9th January 2026.
