Guided Walk - Poolewe

Explore Poolewe Past and Present with Pauline Butler

Thursday 31st July 3.30pm – 5.30pm

Join local guide and historian, Pauline Butler, for a village walk to discover some of the places and stories that contribute to Poolewe's long and fascinating history.

Pauline will guide you through various different aspects of Poolewe's built and social history including the school, churches, bridge construction, wartime and seafaring stories, the nurses house, Pool House, Inverewe Estate, Londubh Burial Ground and more.

The walk will start at Riverside carpark, Poolewe and end at Londubh Burial Ground.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the walk is due to start.

There is no need to book for this walk, please just turn up. The walk is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

You walk at your own risk and we encourage you to:

  • Wear comfortable footwear

  • Be aware that the route is on tarmac roads and pavements except for the burial ground which is grass. The route includes a slight incline from the carpark up to the main road and from the main road to the burial ground.

  • The burial ground is a grass underfoot, so may be slidy depending on weather conditions.

  • Tuck your trousers into your socks and/or check for ticks after the walk.

  • Dress for the weather – bring layers and waterproofs.

  • Prepare for the weather – bring a sun hat and lotion (you never know!).

  • Keep hydrated – bring a drink and maybe even a snack.

  • Only come if you feel well and have a good, general level of fitness.
