Lower Gallery September - December 2025
Saturation
Lisa Fenton O'Brien
Exploring time, the changing weather and remote landscape of the north west Highlands this exhibition presents a series of paper-based works. Using inks, watercolour and the weather the work strives to capture the essence of the elements within it - using the direction and heaviness of rain to dictate mark-making and catching wind to push pigment across paper within set time-frames.
Working on coastal mountainsides, in woods and in temperate rain forests some of my work will also explore the delicate form and colour of the flora that flourishes here, in these damp conditions. The landscape, from Scots pine to peat bog, at times ravaged by wind and heavily browsed by red deer will also be represented.
