Researching the Heroes of Gairloch Parish, World War I

To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, our researchers have created a database using some of the information from “Na Gaisgich: The Heroes of Gairloch Parish, World War I” by Ann Roots and William MacRobbie.  This invaluable book details almost 500 people who lived locally and served King and country, 1914-1918.

We have added sections of photographs (including of objects) and documents from the Museum’s collection and archives. There is also a list of where you might research further. If you can tell us more of the local stories of the Great War, please do contact us.
