Fiona Mackenzie has often referred to herself as a Wilderness Artist.
Her exhibition was inspired by a place on the Wester Ross map called the Hill of the Sparrow Hawk - forming a centre piece for the exhibition. There are many such places with eloquent names from the past. They suggest an otherworld with moments caught in story and in time.
Working on wood engravings, etchings , drawings, and paintings; Fiona hopes to show her continuing exploration of the skies, the mountains and the sea in the Scottish Highlands. The people like the crofters, their animals , and the wild creatures are also part of the discovery.
